Apr_18 Wooden spools of thread . . .

I inherited from my mother a large selection of wooden spools with thread on them. I always enjoyed having them, even though I didn’t have much use for them, except for the odd bit of sewing now and then. When I started painting, I realized that I wanted to have them on my canvases. My husband was able to split them in half so that they would fit flat on the canvas and then project outwards. I have several paintings that use these spools. All of the modern threads are on various modern materials and are no longer on wood spools. That makes the old ones more special to me. These paintings are called Unspooling, Falling Spools, Spooling Around and Threads of an Idea.
